Long Beach, CA 90813 Located in Downtown Long Beach along Pine
Avenue, Pine Lofts is an exciting adaptive re-use of two
commercial buildings into high-end residential lofts. The two
structures have all the makings of desirable urban living spaces
- open wood bowstring truss roofs and high, light filled
ceilings.
The development plan expands on the building's raw
potential by converting an existing surface parking lot between
the structures into a communal garden courtyard filled with
lawn, trees and a sparkling fountain.
Parking is relocated into new
enclosed garages located at the rear of the property. In
addition to the fourteen units created in the existing buildings
two new units are being proposed. All of the units have
individual entries directly off of the courtyard. Each entry
features a distinctive semi-enclosed patio, and the upper units
have exterior sun porches to take advantage of Long Beach's
temperate climate.
Although contemporary in appearance, the complex really is an
updated version of the beloved California courtyard housing
building. The emphasis of the design is the creation of a
village-like collection of buildings that meets the needs of the
individual homeowner while addressing the spirit of the
community.
